Democracy and Government!

Hey guys. This term my grade as our Inquiry topic is Government and Democracy. We have discussed what we know and what we want to know. At the start we got given a sheet for any information that we know about. Mine didn’t have very much on it yet I still got a little bit of information off of it, like how you have to be 18 years and over to vote. But even then still I didn’t know what Democracy meant. So I researched it and I found out that Democracy means:

A form of government when people either directly or in-directly, (taking part in government) Here is where I got my information from:

We had to write down 6 questions. Here are my questions:

  1. Why is it called a party?
  2. Why do we get a fine if we don’t vote?
  3. Do the Prime Ministers resign or do they get voted out?
  4. What does the government do?
  5. What does each party do?
  6. Who’s in charge of each party?

After researching I have found the answers to my questions. They are:

  1. Why is it called a party? – They are called parties because in each party there are many people. Say a Political Party has 500 members,so having a lot of people is considered a party.
  2. Why do we have to vote? – Because if you don’t vote than its considered that you want  to be in a place where you don’t get a vote and people would not like that.
  3. Do the Prime Ministers resign or do they get voted out? – Some people can get voted out like John Howard by public or parliament and party vote and some other resign.
  4. What are the government responsibilities? – Business & Trade, Plants, Animals, Fisheries, Forestry, Environment, Biosecurity, Research and Services
  5. What are each parties role? –
  6. Who’s in charge of each party
